The power of influence

 

In order to grow or improve your business, you must have a great leadership, because leaders solve problems and maximize resources. In order to solve problems, you need to get others to help you do it, and that requires INFLUENCE. If you want to have an impact on your children, or on your community or impact on the world itself, that requires INFLUENCE. There is no more important skill of leadership than INFLUENCE, if you can’t influence, you can’t lead.

If you can learn that skill of influence and you learn others how to be influencers with integrity, together with them, whatever vision you have, can be turned into reality, and I promise you that.

 

So, the question is: How you influence?

The big game here is emotion, it comes down to ability to influence emotion, because that’s what affects our intellect.

As leaders, we must never forget that humans are emotional creatures including ourselves, and to be able to influence someone, you have to know what already influences them, you need to connect with them in a deep emotional level.

The way how you can know what already influences them, is by asking questions. And please keep in mind that questions are the answer, and I really do believe that the right questions can change anything.

As Tony Robins said, all human beings have 6 basic needs

1)    Certainty

 

The ability to feel safe and comfortable, this is our primal survival instinct, if we don’t feel certainty, it is hard to focus on everything else

 

2)    Uncertainty/variety

 

In order to feel fully alive, we need to experience change, emotional change, physical change on your body, any change that will keep us alive. If we would not have changes, our lives would be boring.

 

3)    Significance

 

We all need to feel special, needed and worthy of attention.

 

 

4)    Belonging and love and connection

 

We all need love, but many of us will settle for connection. We all need to feel like we belong to someone or some group

 

5)    Growth

 

We all need to keep on expanding and growing or we start to die

 

6)    Contribution

We all need to feel contribution to something rather than ourselves

When you ask someone these questions: What certainty means to you? How much you appreciate change/uncertainty/variety in your life? How important to you is feeling of significance? How important for you is to belong to someone/something,  to love and be loved?

How important to you is to have growth in any aspect in your life, love life/business life, relationships?

And how important for you is sense of contribution, that you are contributing to something, to your family, to your company, to your community, to the world?

And afterword’s, ask them about 2 most important needs for them from this list. The answer to this question will give you an insight of what drives that person the most.
